Hey guys! I cant believe its been an entire week already wow.
I haven't finished A Game Of Thrones yet so I decided to review one of my favourite books from when I was younger. Alyson Noel is one of those authors that is not very popular but needs to be! I started reading her books when I was 11 and I still am now, 3 years later! She is also super nice and I have talked to her quite a few times through Instagram.
Radiance is the first book in a series of 4, they aren't very big books and I finished one per day. They are such an easy read and you don't have to worry about such trauma from feels and 'asdfghjkl's because there aren't that many but its still a lovely little read if you are in a bit of a books slump or need a wind down after reading such a traumatising book *cough* Clockwork Princess *cough*
Radiance starts off introducing you to Riley Bloom, a 12 year old girl who is extreamly stubborn and hates being treated as the baby ( I think we can all relate to that). Riley is driving home with her family, her mum, dad, big sister Ever, and her dog Buttercup when a deer jumps on to the road and her dad swerves to avoid it, in result crashing the car.
The car crash kills Riley, her parents and her dog. Ever is the only survivor and returns to the human plane to carry on her life. As much as Riley teased and annoyed Ever, she looked up to her big sister a lot and felt lost when she crossed over into the after-life without her.
In the after-life Riley is living as a ghost and finds it hard to adjust, her sarcastic stubborn nature catches attention of the council (the people in charge) and they soon call her in for a meeting. The council give Riley a job, she is to become a Soul Catcher. A Soul Catcher is a ghost who has to try and convince other ghosts to move on into the afterlife when they are lost or don't want to. Riley agrees to this job because it will involve her travelling back to the Earth Plane where she might see her sister once again.
The Council don't send Riley off alone though, they appoint her a guide, his names Bodhi and Riley finds him an immediate pain in the ass. The last thing she needs is a cocky, smart ass, older boy to accompany her but she cant refuse his company and soon she grows to find that Bodhi isn't so bad after all.
Like I have said before I lovelovelove these books. They are so short and sweet. I fell in love with Bodhi quickly hehe. My favourite book out of this Riley Bloom series is probably the second one, Shimmer, the plot is a lot darker and we find out more secrets to Bodhi's past.
If you read these books and get addicted to this magical world like I did. Riley's big sister Ever has her own series too! Its called The Immortals and there are a lot more books. The Immortals is for slightly older readers and it gives you a WHOLE new view point to Riley and Evers life. Stating the fact that the car crash that started it all may not of been an accident at all...
