'SOULMATES' BY HOLLY BOURNE.
"Every so often, two people are born who
are the perfect matches for each other. Soulmates. But while the odds of this
happening are about as likely as being struck by lightning, when these people do
meet and fall in love…thunderstorms, lightning strikes and lashings of rain are
only the beginning of their problems.
Enter Poppy, the 17-year-old cynic
with a serious addiction to banana milk, and Noah, the heart-throb guitarist;
residents of mediocre Middletown, sometime students,
After a chance meeting at a local band night, Poppy
and Noah find themselves swept up in a whirlwind romance unlike anything they’ve
ever experienced before. But with a secret international agency preparing to
separate them, a trail of destruction rumbling in their wake, (and a looming
psychology coursework deadline), they are left with an impossible choice between
the end of the world, or a life without love…"
'FLYNN'S *non-spoilers* REVIEW'....
First of all, don't even try and tell me these beautiful covers did not grab your attention! For me, if you know how much I love 'The Fault in Our Stars' by John Green, I love this book JUST AS MUCH AS TFIOS(it's not very often I say that). From the very first page it had me totally and utterly hooked! Holly's way of writing completely captivates you in a way that not many authors can.Noah and Poppy's romance blossoming throughout the book was just
fantastic. I remember when I'd just finished the book and I had just cried and moped around for the rest of the day as if I was suffering from a horrible breakup; it almost got to the point where the only thing I thought I could to help myself was to sit in my bed eating chocolates alone all day long....The ending of this book, which has also, for some (I don't really know why!) was controversial, however, it was utter perfection for me: holding aspects of realism and heartbreak and yet, it was so beautiful all at once! I fell in love with the characters straight away, more than ever thought I would; there was something I admired about each and everyone of them. It's not very often that after you finish a book, you are so attached to the characters, you feel the need to carry the book around with you, as if the suffering fictional friends of yours enjoy being lugged around Tesco in your bag!
I will tell you know: don't for one second even think that 'this is just another romance book': because you will never have been more wrong!
I am BEYOND excited to hopefully meet Holly Bourne at the first ever 'Young Adult Literature Convention'! (YALC) See our 'EVENTS' page for more details on YALC!
