Michelle's review:
I'm going to be doing another movie review this week, because X-men days of future past was released. *screams* I love X-men and had originally expected this movie to be of the same standard as the previous installments - I was wrong. Personally, I thought that this movie was better (if possible). It begins with actions, which doesn't always work well in movies; however, this time, I found it gripping rather than confusing. The visual effects were beyond amazing, gluing my eyes to the screen (metaphorically, of course). Days of future past features not only the original cast - including Patrick Stewart (Charles Xavier) - but also the new, First Class, cast - including Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique) - therefore making the movie even more enjoyable. I mean, who doesn't like to see two groups of their favourite actors put together? The plot in this film is, in my opinion, the most intense of all X-men movies. The idea of time travel hooks viewers from the start, as does the idea of history being remade - will the characters make new choices, could they literally change the future? I honestly can't find a negative thing to say about this film, therefore my opinion may be biased. Despite this, I did find certain aspects confusing and would not recommend anyone to watch it without having seen the previous installments beforehand. On the other hand, it contains all aspects of a great movie: gripping action, amazing actors, amazing visual effects and emotion. This movie may or may not have brought more than just a tear to my eye... Personally, I would see the movie purely for Jennifer Lawrence and Hugh Jackman (playing Wolverine, with whom I am slightly obsessed); however I recommend every single X-men fan out there to see it - it is money well spent! My rating: 4.5/5 stars Rotten Tamtoes (www.rottentomatoes.com) rating: 4.5/5 stars |
